Players are free to choose between the military aircraft of seven main nations: USA, Germany, USSR, Great Britain, Japan, Italy, and France, which also have aircraft of other nations included in them, like Australia and others. You can find yourself blasting your pursuers from a bomber turret, defending your teammates on the ground from an air raid with anti-aircraft guns, shooting down enemy planes with a firestorm from multiple rocket launchers, or trying to sink an enemy warship with a torpedo from a fast attack boat. You can choose from over 1,500 vehicles and an extensive variety of combat situations many of which are exclusive. In War Thunder for macOS, aircraft, attack helicopters, ground forces, and naval ships collaborate in realistic competitive battles. In most game modes, the maps are designed for 32 players split into two teams. Flying bombers, and hitting bomb targets, works perfectly.War Thunder for Mac is the most comprehensive free-to-play, cross-platform, MMO military game for macOS, dedicated to aviation, armored vehicles, and naval craft from World War II and the Cold War. I'm still fairly new to the game, so my skill in fighters isn't great anyway, but I seem to fly about as well as I used to before. It doesn't provide quite the same level of fidelity as a true 1:1 stick axis bind would provide, but as of right now I can't find any other way around this problem. You can also fiddle around with Steam's controller settings to vary the degree of input based on the stick position. And the graphics, at full resolution and set to High settings (I could probably set it to max), are beautiful. The frame rate varies, but it often hits and exceeds 120 FPS. Performance wise, the game runs extremely well.

For reference, I only play in Air RB, I'm currently flying Tier II US planes, and I do not use the mouse aim control mode, instead I fly with an Xbox One controller ( video on how to pair a controller via Steam Link available here). I've only recently been able to play it on the M1 Pro, thanks to the latest Steam beta updates restoring remote play functionality. I haven't seen any posts regarding War Thunder on the new MacBook Pros, so here's my experience.
